Being a part of UMSA, definitely has it’s perks. Apart from being able to make new friends and practising your lah, mah, cheh with people of your kind, you get to participate in outside activities, be paid for it and take pictures with notable  political figures such as Auckland’s mayor, Len Brown.

This was the case for some of the folks of UMSA and UMNO at the Auckland Cultural festival. They were hired to promote ” Malaysia kitchen”, a company that seeks to introduce malaysian cuisine to people of NZ, Australia and the world by bringing together malaysian restraunts around the country.

The website is a good place to go if you’re just craving some good authentic malaysian food other than the one you go to 2-3 times a week which is less than 300m from your apartment building. (you know who you people are haha) .Not only that, it has articles, recipes, promotions about malaysian food in nz’s culinary scene.

Anyway, back to the Auckland cultural festival. There were heaps of other stalls set up by other races of the world. From danish to indian, there were 30 others from what I was told. food galore.

There were performances throughout the day, which also  included the peformance by the umsa/umno crew,a traditional malay and bamboo dance to entertain the crowd.the highlight of the day was definitely when Len Brown showed up for a picture with the crew plus the free food given out by the malaysian kitchen staff.

I don’t know about you, but I know what I’m having for dinner tonight.
