Are UMSA people cool?

are you kidding me? we are the coolest people on this planet! (ok, that might be a little exaggerating)

How do I join UMSA?

Glad you asked. Our grand membership registration opens at orientation week and goes on for about 1 week. We will announce the venue and time that our UMSA stall will be open for registration.

Didn’t make it for the grand sign up – no worries. Just register online.

Do I have to be a Malaysian to join UMSA?

Never! UMSA is open to all nationalities. You don’t even need to know how to speak english. You’ll be speaking “lahs” and “mahs” like us in no time.

Do I have to pay to join UMSA?

As much as we love giving everything free, you will need to pay a one time small amount of NZD 6 for a year worth of membership. That amount will be use to cover orientation and activities cost.

I’m already a member of another club / a Malaysian club. Can I still join UMSA?

Who says you can only have one? Elizabeth Taylor had seven (husbands – and she’s dead now – RIP )!

Am I still able to attend UMSA activities if I’m not a member?

Yes, we are COOL with that! You’ll just need to sign a piece of paper and give us $6. *wink*

I did not receive any UMSA e-mail updates. What should I do now?

First thing to do is to check your junk box, it may have landed there. Please mark UMSA mails as “safe” or “not junk” so that UMSA mail will continue to be delivered into your inbox.

If that doesn’t work – contact the web geek using the “contact us” menu above for personal assistance.

Ok, what the heck is Bersatu Games?

Bersatu Games is a mini Olympic games participated by all the malaysian societies in New Zealand with the main aim to build relationships and unity among clubs and members. It is held once a year and each city in New Zealand will take turns to hold the games so that means a chance to travel during your semester break!

Who are UMSA Creative Team?

UMSA Creative Team is the team that maintains the contents and design of UMSA’s website. We felt that UMSA’s contents need to reach beyond just UMSA activities thus we set up a dedicated team to manage it. The team consists of ordinary members and committees with the sole purpose of managing the creative side of UMSA.

I have something I like to contribute, can I join the Creative Team?

Yes, of course! We are constantly looking for people who can write for us, design, and give us suggestions. The Sincerely Yours corner is dedicated to people with random interesting posts that they would like to submit to us (somewhat like Letters to Editors).  Please get in touch with us to find out more.
